From the Simple to the Complex: Tax-Efficient Opportunities to Leave a Lasting Legacy

Speaker Cris Lutz will discuss case studies on a variety of gift planning vehicles, including beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts, that can help donors leave substantial and tax-wise gifts to charity.

Cris Lutz is the Planned Giving Director at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California, where she helps donors leave enduring legacies at the institution. Prior to joining The Huntington in 2005 as Associate Director of Major Gifts, she held several positions at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, ultimately serving as Director of Individual Giving. She was an adjunct faculty member at Pasadena City College, where she taught a Psychology course from 1998 to 2003. Cris has a Master’s degree in Psychology from Cal State Fullerton and earned a BA in Art History and Social Science at UC Irvine. Cris serves on the board of the LA Council of Charitable Gift Planners, as well as the American Council on Gift Annuities, and is a member of the San Gabriel Valley Estate Planning Council. She is also a certified specialist in planned giving through the American Institute for Philanthropic Studies. Cris lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their daughter.
